I love anything with monograms! I found similar wreaths on Etsy for $50+ and knew I could make it cheaper. I love a good challenge but this project is seriously SIMPLE; even for beginners.
I got all my materials at Michaels. You could probably get them at all Hobby Lobby as well (we dont have those where I live but I'm jealous of those who do).
Here is what you will need:
- hot glue gun and glue
- grapevine wreath (you can do any size but mine was about 18")
- wooden letter (monogram)
- silk flowers
- ribbon or burlap
- scissors
If you aren't feeling confident in choosing the flowers for the wreath, look around the store as usually they have small "pre made" bouquets in beautiful combinations; that is what I used on my wreath!
Next, trim the flowers so they are ready to place on the wreath. I use wire cutters that I snatched from my hubby's tool collection (pretty sure they are mine now hehe).
Make a bow out of the burlap or ribbon. If you are unsure of how to do this, watch for my blog post on how to make a burlap bow. Ill be posting that in a few days.
Lay all your items on the wreath to determine the placement BEFORE gluing them on. Make sure the items look well balanced on the wreath. Once you are finished, glue each item on the wreath and bingo, you are done. Now, hang your wreath on your door and proudly tell everyone YOU made it :)
If you wanted to go one step further, you could paint your monogram instead of leaving it white. If you do this, paint it before attaching it to your wreath!
PROJECT COST:
- grapevine wreath, approx. $4.99
- flowers, approx. $11.99 (I used a 40% off coupon and got them for about $6)
- monogram, approx. $2.99
- burlap, approx. $8.99 (this is the price for a huge roll which you'll be able to use for many Fall projects)
TIPS:
COUPONS - watch for coupons to help save $ on the more expensive items. Round up coupons from friends and family who may not be using theirs. Download the app for your local craft store (Micheals is a great one) and check out what coupons are available on there). If you have more than one coupon, don't be afraid to do two transactions in order to use both of them on 2 of the expensive items needed for the project!
Have fun! If you make one, send me your photos to [email protected]; I'd love to see them and share them!
